OGH 150th Celebrations –
Sunday 6 May 2012

With pomp and ceremony the 150th anniversary of Old Government House was celebrated on Sunday 6th May with a free family day. Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AC, Governor of Queensland, who arrived by horse-drawn carriage, officially opened the celebrations and joined QUT Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Coaldrake in cutting a magnificent celebratory cake.

A morning tea and entertainment followed, with gentlemen and ladies wearing elegant colonial-era fashions mingling amongst the crowd and performing 19th century dancing in The Hall.

Later, loud colonial military rifle demonstrations and performances by brass and pipe bands all successfully created a grand colonial atmosphere to mark Old Government House's 150th year.
