Transport and Parking

Public Transport

QUT's Gardens Point Precinct is very well serviced by public transport. We suggest using the TransLink Journey Planner to plan your visit. You can also phone TransLink on 131 230.

There is a taxi drop-off point outside Parliament House, about 300m walk from Old Government House.

On foot

There is pedestrian access from the city centre via George Street (approximately 10-minute walk), or from Southbank Parklands via the Goodwill Bridge (approximately 20-minute walk).

Parking

Old Government House is located at the end of George Street at QUT's Gardens Point campus, next to the City Botanic Gardens and only a 10 minute walk from the city centre.

Pay-on-exit public parking is available within a short walking distance of Old Government House.

As with most public CBD car parks, availability during busy periods and university semesters may be severely limited, and parking charges for the public reflect this. Visit the QUT Facilities Management page for up-to-date information on casual parking locations and fees.

There are reduced tariffs for evening and weekend parking:

Evening: $5.00 per hour for entry after 6pm and exit before 12am
Weekend: $10.00 per entry, Saturday and Sunday

Science and Engineering Centre car park

A pay-on-exit car park located underground in the Science and Engineering Centre (P-block) provides the best access for all patrons to Old Government House and is open to the public 24/7.

Under freeway parking

A pay-on-exit parking lot is also located under the Riverside Expressway. Availability during the university semester is very limited and there may be queuing times.

By coach

Coach parking in the Brisbane CBD is allowed at approved locations and times. Visit Brisbane City Council's Coach parking maps for locations, times and restrictions on coach parking in the Brisbane CBD.
