General questions
The exhibition runs from 12 July to 19 August 2018, 7 days a week.
Excluding Wednesday 15 August, Ekka, Royal Queensland Show day.
Opening hours: 10am – 3pm with last entry to the house at 2pm daily.
The exhibition is held at Old Government House, Brisbane, located at QUT Gardens Point campus next to the City Botanic Gardens, only a 15 – 20 minute walk from the city centre.

Ticketing
Tickets can be purchased online. Book now and avoid queues. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the box office at the entrance to the exhibition.

Do I need to pre-book tickets online?
We highly recommend pre-booking tickets to avoid disappointment or long queues. Pre-booked tickets are available through the secure booking website. If you require assistance booking your tickets online, please call our Box Office on 3138 4455.
Tickets must be presented to gain entry to the exhibition. Limited tickets are available at the door each day and are subject to availability.
Why do I need to purchase tickets for a specific time?
Timed entry is necessary to ensure the exhibition doesn't become overcrowded and to avoid long queues and waiting times at the door.
What happens if I miss my timeslot on my ticket?
Please arrive in time to enter the exhibition within 15 minutes of your allocated time. If you are late, see our friendly staff at the exhibition entrance and we will try to accommodate you in the next available session.
I am unable to attend the exhibition or special event. Can I get a refund?
If you are unable to attend the exhibition or special event, no refunds are permitted. Old Government House follows the Live Performance Australia Ticketing Code of Practice, which can be found at www.liveperformance.com.au
I am unable to attend the exhibition. Am I able to exchange my tickets for another session?
We are happy to swap tickets based on availability for an alternative day and time but the tickets must be exchanged before the date of your booked session. Please call our Box Office on 3138 4455. No refunds or cancellations permitted.
Can I purchase tickets at the door for The Bowerbird and The Bride special events?
No, tickets must be pre-purchased for Behind the Seams Tours and In Conversation with Marion Boyce. We recommend pre-purchasing tickets to the exhibition on 22 July for the Wedding Garden Party (no ticket required for Garden Party, everyone welcome).
I've lost my tickets, what do I do?
Call our Box Office on 3138 4455 and they will arrange replacement tickets to be collected from the House on that day. If you selected the 'print at home' option you can reprint your tickets by logging into your profile on the QTIX website.
Yes. Contact the QTIX group bookings team on 07 3840 7466 to make an enquiry or booking. Group bookings will receive concession price tickets.
Can I make a group booking for a school group?
Yes. You can make a school group booking by contacting the QTIX group bookings team on 07 3840 7466. The exhibition is available throughout Term 3, 2018.
I've forgotten my QTIX password, what do I do?
Please click on the 'I have forgotten my password link' on the QTIX website. It will prompt you to enter in your email address. An automated email will be sent to your email account with steps on verifying your profile and how to set a new password.
Please do not enter your credit card details again as it may have already been processed. Please email gardenstix@qut.edu.au or phone 3138 4455 and we can check if the transaction has been processed.
How does the 'print at home tickets' option work?
Before selecting the 'print at home' button ensure your email address is correct in your profile. You will receive a confirmation email on finalisation of the transaction. The confirmation email will be your receipt of the transaction and will have your tickets as an attachment. You need to open this attachment (at the top of the page it stipulates 'this is your ticket'). Please print off all tickets (from this attachment) and bring with you on the day. When you arrive at Old Government House please present your 'print at home ticket' at the entrance to the exhibition.
Can I present tickets on my phone?
Yes, when you arrive at Old Government House you can present your QTIX ticket on your phone or device.
Planning your visit
How long does it take to see the exhibition?
We recommend planning at least one hour for your visit. This exhibition is self-guided.
What are my travel options to Old Government House?
Foot
Old Government House is a 15 – 20 minute walk from the city down George Street, or from South Bank Parklands, across the Goodwill Bridge.
Public Transport
To find out which public transport method (bus, train, ferry or citycat) is most suitable, go to the Translink website and find the journey planner on the homepage. The journey planner is extremely easy to use; type in your address, then '2 George St, Brisbane', and it will tell you the best routes and modes of transport to travel to Old Government House, QUT Gardens Point campus.
Parking
On-campus parking on weekdays during university semester is in high demand and the daytime (to 6pm) tariff reflects this. We recommend that weekday visitors use public transport or make alternative arrangements. If you do use the pay-on-exit carparks on campus, and you enter before 6pm on a weekday, please ensure you have your parking ticket validated at the Old Government House visitor desk to access the discounted rate of $5 per hour, or part thereof. For weekend visitors, a flat rate parking tariff of $10 applies and no validation is necessary.
Where is the bus drop off zone?
Coach parking in the Brisbane CBD is allowed at approved locations and times. Visit Brisbane City Council's coach parking maps for locations, times and restrictions on coach parking in the Brisbane CBD.
The exhibition is wheelchair accessible and located on the ground floor of Old Government House. Some special events are located on the second floor of the house or at Room Three Sixty where there is lift access.
Is there accessible parking at Old Government House?
Disability parking bays are available in the Science and Engineering Centre carpark (P Block) and under the Riverside Expressway. If you have a blue permit please phone Old Government House to discuss other options, based on availability.
Is there a taxi drop off area near Old Government House?
A taxi drop off point is located near Parliament House, 300m from the House.
Are prams/strollers permitted in the House?
As Old Government House is a heritage listed building, prams and strollers are not permitted inside. A cloak room is available at the exhibition entry.
Where are the toilet facilities at Old Government House?
Toilet facilities (including accessible toilets) are available in the Courtyard at Old Government House. Alternative toilets are located nearby in the Science and Engineering Centre (P Block).
Where is the nearest water fountain?
There are water fountains situated throughout campus, the nearest is inside the entrance of Science and Engineering Centre (P Block).
All backpacks and bags larger than A3 will need to be cloaked before entering the House. As Old Government House is a heritage listed building, prams and strollers are not permitted inside. A cloak room is available at the exhibition entry.
Can I take food or drinks into the exhibition?
No food or drink is permitted in Old Government House or the exhibition.
Are pass outs permitted for this exhibition?
There are no pass outs for this exhibition.
Can I buy The Bowerbird and The Bride merchandise?
A range of beautiful items are available at the Old Government House Gift Shop, including an exhibition companion book.
Can I take photographs of the exhibition?
Photography for non-commercial use is welcomed. Share your photos using hashtags #bowerbirdbride #oldgovernmenthousebrisbane. Flash photography is not permitted.
There are ATMs in the Food Court on Level 3 of the Science and Engineering Centre (P Block).
Are there cafés and bars open to purchase food and drink/after the exhibition?
There are a number of dining options at QUT Gardens Point Campus, including The Pantry located in Old Government House courtyard, and Aroma Café, next to Gardens Theatre. On weekends when on-campus options are reduced, consider The Gardens Club, a charming café next door in the Botanic Gardens.

What happens to lost property?
If personal belongings are found in Old Government House they will be sent to our Box Office (phone 07 3138 4455 or email gardenstix@qut.edu.au). If items haven't been collected within 5 working days they will be lodged with HiQ who manage QUT's lost and found property service.
