Strings in the House
Join us for a captivating morning as the strings take centre stage at Old Government House.
Enjoy performances by the Hillbrook String Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, and String Quartet, featuring a vibrant mix of classical favourites and contemporary works. The program embraces the emotional sweep of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, with its powerful journey from darkness to triumph, alongside the fiery brilliance of Vivaldi’s Summer from The Four Seasons and the timeless beauty of Greensleeves. The concert also highlights the evocative colours of contemporary string writing and the distinctive sounds of the guitar ensemble, with works spanning the rhythmic pulse of Kenengiser’s Mbira, the vast open landscapes of Levesque’s Onk Akimel Landscape, and the playful energy of Fimbel’s Lou’Ping. Relax and be transported by the shimmering sounds of Brisbane’s talented young musicians.
